Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and professional Part-Time Surveillance Private Investigator to work on workers' compensation investigations in and around the Albany, NY area. This field-based role involves conducting mobile and stationary surveillance using professional video equipment to discreetly document claimant activity. This is an excellent opportunity for investigators looking for flexible scheduling with the potential to work up to 40+ hours per week, depending on performance and case volume.
Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience working for a licensed private investigation firm and possess their own equipment. Work can begin immediately upon completion of our onboarding and orientation process.
Key Details:
- Location: Albany, NY and surrounding areas
- Pay Rate: $25–$35 per hour, based on experience
- Mileage Reimbursement: Paid starting from the time surveillance begins
- Schedule: Part-time, on-call; hours are based on client demand (we currently have active casework in the Albany area)
- Potential: Up to 40+ hours per week, based on performance, availability, and case volume
- Outside Work: Investigators may work for other companies but must sign a confidentiality agreement
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct covert video surveillance of individuals involved in workers' compensation claims
- Perform mobile and stationary surveillance in a professional and lawful manner
- Capture clear, steady, and time-stamped video using professional and covert camera equipment
- Prepare concise and accurate written reports documenting all relevant activity
- Maintain secure handling and organization of all evidence and case materials
- Communicate updates with case managers in a timely and professional manner
- Work varied hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
- Travel throughout the Albany, NY area and surrounding counties for assigned cases
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of surveillance experience with a licensed private investigation firm
- Must own and be able to operate the following:
- Surveillance-ready vehicle
- Laptop
- High-quality video camera
- Covert (concealed) camera
- Strong understanding of New York State surveillance laws
- Excellent observational, written, and time management skills
- Must be self-motivated, discreet, and able to work independently in the field
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in insurance, workers’ compensation, or disability investigations
- Experience testifying in court or depositions regarding surveillance findings
