General Job Description:
The Pet Care Attendant is responsible for taking care of the pets at the facility as if they were their own. Our clients leave their dogs in our care knowing we are the safest, cleanest and most professional facility in our area, and it is the Pet Care Attendants job to ensure this is the case every day. Main tasks of the Attendant are supervising the dogs during group play, rotating the dogs in and out of groups for appropriate rest and play sessions, enrichment activities, ensuring sanitation expectations are met by cleaning throughout the day, facility care and sanitation, reporting behavior or health changes to management, and upholding the companies mission and values.
Primary Job Duties:
- Maintaining control of large groups of dogs to ensure safety and low arousal
- Always moving between dogs and rooms to maintain facility sanitation and dogs safety and comfort, constantly on your feet and aware of surroundings
- Addressing, correcting and redirecting inappropriate behaviors between dogs in group including aggression, mounting, rough play, etc
- Staying aware of the daycare environment and climate to keep everyone safe, and attending to any special needs dogs regularly
- Cleaning up any eliminations as soon as they occur to ensure sanitation and prevent spread of disease
- Ensuring cleanliness of dogs throughout the day to ensure they do not become covered in eliminations, slobber, dirt, etc.
- Completing all assigned cleaning to ensure facility sanitation, including but not limited to: wiping down walls, fences, toys, beds/cots, moping and sweeping floors, cleaning windows, washing dishes, sanitizing cleaning equipment, steam cleaning, dusting, etc.
- Managing time throughout the day as to stay on schedule with any meals times, daily enrichments, group rotations and cleaning.
- Daily and regular health checks on all dogs from nose to tail to ensure cleanliness and safety, done multiple times a day
- Completing incident reports and documenting behavior changes professionally and in a timely manner
- Providing basic first aid to dogs
Qualifications:
- Available during regular working hours ,Holidays and weekends
- Experience working with animals and basic knowledge of dog behavior, body language
- Computer technical competence to use various software, internet, e-mail
- Ability to stand and/or walk for 8 hours or more at a time
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced and changing work environment
- Always emanating a positive attitude towards dogs, employees and customers, even when not at facility.
- Organization and planning skills
- Ability to make quick decisions as well as act quickly on feet
- Proactive at problem solving and finding solutions independently
- Ability to stay calm in stressful or dangerous situations and keep control
- Ability to multitask, follow deadlines and handle multiple priorities
- Great communication skills with staff and customers
- Self motivated and independent worker
- Always professional when handling staff and customers
- Successful Completion of Knowing Dogs 101 with 80% of higher to move forward
