Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Material Planner to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the flow of materials through the supply chain, ensuring that inventory levels meet production demands while minimizing costs. This role requires a strong understanding of supply chain management, purchasing processes, and data analysis skills to optimize inventory control and support overall operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement material planning strategies to ensure timely availability of materials for production.
- Analyze demand forecasts and collaborate with cross-functional teams to align inventory levels with production schedules.
- Manage supplier relationships and negotiate contracts to secure favorable terms for procurement.
- Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) to monitor inventory levels, track shipments, and manage order fulfillment processes.
- Conduct root cause analysis to identify and resolve issues related to material shortages or excess inventory.
- Perform data mining and analytics to provide insights into inventory trends, demand planning, and supply chain performance.
- Oversee logistics operations, including shipping & receiving, to ensure efficient material handling.
- Collaborate with category management teams to optimize product assortments and pricing strategies.
- Support process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency within the supply chain.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of supply chain management principles and practices.
- Experience in warehouse distribution and management, including inventory control and materials handling.
- Proficient in purchasing, negotiation, and supplier management techniques.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SQL, and AS400 for effective data visualization and reporting.
- Ability to conduct financial analysis and modeling related to procurement decisions.
- Knowledge of MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software.
- Excellent analytical skills with a focus on demand planning and supply chain analytics.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration across departments.
- Experience in e-commerce logistics and retail management is a plus.
