The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) invites applications for a postdoctoral research position in the area of battery characterization and modeling. This position will support advanced research efforts under the direction of Professor George Nelson.
The successful candidate will engage in the fabrication and electrochemical characterization of both liquid and solid electrolyte batteries, as well as the analysis of battery materials. In addition, the role will involve contributing to the development of multiphysics models to better understand battery performance and behavior.

Duties/Responsibilities
• Perform funded research and experiments on battery materials
• Perform finite element analysis simulations or battery materials
• Analyze data from experiments and simulations, and prepare comprehensive research reports, manuscripts, and publications for submission to peer-reviewed journals, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and adherence to academic and institutional standards
• Prepare, manage and maintain documentation and reporting of results from experiments and simulations
• PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Elect Engineering, Physics or related field with a strong background in battery fabrication and testing with 18 -21 months of full-time work experience.
• Experience with battery modeling and simulation
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Experience with image processing and analysis
• Knowledge of materials characterization methods
