The Weitz Company is hiring a Preconstruction Manager to support our Denver, CO Office.


The Preconstruction Manager is responsible for providing outstanding customer service and setting small- to medium-sized projects up for success through successful delivery of our preconstruction services. They will provide value to our customers by leading the entire project team, predicting cost and schedule, being an advocate for our owners, and transitioning preconstruction services to operations as construction starts. They provide oversight and leadership of all assigned internal employees. The Preconstruction Manager typically reports directly to the Sr. Preconstruction Manager or Director of Preconstruction.

What You’ll Do:

  • Responsible for accuracy of all estimating, scheduling, strategy and communication throughout preconstruction process
  • Review all estimates for accuracy, detail and expectations
  • Review weekly preconstruction process to ensure progress is on schedule; initiate changes to remain on schedule; advise leadership of issues that may pose a cost or schedule impact
  • Coordinate building systems and schedules with Operations to plan and budget for safety on each project
  • Make decisions in a timely manner; understand when to involve upper management in decisions; assess level of risk and the consequences associated
  • Collaborate with operations, business development, preconstruction team members and other stakeholders to ensure projects are turned over for success with the expected level of profitability
  • Understand the clients’ needs to manage the process efficiently, ensure timely completion, understand local logistics/subcontractor and supplier market, and how BIM/LEED/LEAN can be best utilized
  • Lead preconstruction meetings, when appropriate
  • Adhere to all company policies, standards, and procedures

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience:
    • 6-10 years of extensive estimating and/or project management construction experience is required.
    • Experience in a fast-paced environment
    • Proven history of leading others successfully and to teach, develop, and mentor others.
    • Data center experience is strongly preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent leadership skills with a desire to mentor, coach, and develop a team
    • Excellent verbal and written communication
    • Ability to balance and prioritize projects with impending deadlines
    • Detail-oriented and highly organized
    • Strong negotiation skills, solid construction knowledge, estimating skills, presentation skills, conflict resolution, tactful, & adaptable
    • Business acumen and relationship building skills
  • Technology:
    • Solid systems experience with On-Screen takeoff, Win Est, Autodesk Takeoff, Procore, Bluebeam and JDE is preferred for this role.
    • Training will be provided on company standards.
