Principal Investigator
Location: USAG Fort Gregg-Adams, Prince George County, Virginia

Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Principal Investigator to lead the architectural survey and evaluation of 15 government-owned buildings, structures, and objects at USAG Fort Gregg-Adams. The Principal Investigator will oversee all aspects of the project, ensuring that architectural evaluations are conducted in accordance with the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and VDHR guidelines.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise architectural surveys and evaluations of historic buildings and structures for NRHP eligibility.
- Ensure the quality of work and adherence to the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualifications Standards (SOI).
- Manage fieldwork, data collection, and analysis to support historic preservation assessments.
- Prepare and review technical reports, survey forms, and other documentation for submission to the Virginia Department of Historic Resources (VDHR).
- Coordinate with the project team to integrate architectural and structural data into the overall project findings.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local preservation standards.
Key Qualifications:
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Architecture, Architectural History, Historic Preservation, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in architectural surveys, historic preservation, and National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) eligibility assessments.
- Proven experience leading fieldwork and overseeing the preparation of technical reports for historic preservation projects.
- Strong understanding of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and VDHR guidelines.
- Experience working with government contracts and federal preservation standards.
- Certifications: Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualifications Standards (SOI) for Architectural History or Historic Preservation.
- Experience with federal projects, particularly in historic military or government structures.
Skills:
- Strong analytical and research skills in architectural preservation.
- Ability to lead and mentor junior team members.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with GIS and geospatial data collection tools (e.g., ESRI ArcGIS).
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to be on-site for at least 75% of the project duration.
- Ability to obtain installation access and comply with security protocols at USAG Fort Gregg-Adams.
- Compliance with required safety and security training (Anti-Terrorism, OPSEC, and CUI training).
