Job Summary:

The Inspection Supervisor leads and directs a team of employees in assigned areas of inspection operations such as receiving inspection, NDT, calibration and final inspection. The Inspection Supervisor is responsible for implementing and directing quality assurance efforts to ensure supplier components and other materials in finished goods and products conform to quality standards based on the requirements and expectations of the organization and customer. The Inspection Supervisor is accountable for ensuring a safe working environment and adhering to quality and operational standards and is responsible for meeting and maintaining area safety, quality, delivery, cost and growth metrics. Supervision may include the training and management of employees on more than one shift.

Essential Functions:

  • Train and lead Inspectors through their daily duties.
  • Develop, coach, and mentor employees through the use of performance planning to drive employee and business growth
  • Review the daily allocation of resources in order to support production schedule in order to meet established customer requirements
  • Report and improve quality related KPI’s – drive daily key performance indicators to evaluate the current status and gap to plan, and use this data to drive daily problem solving where required
  • Manage preparation and completion of First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs)
  • Maintain applicable non-conforming material system dispositions
  • Conduct purchase order approval activity
  • Make staffing decisions in accordance with management and human resource procedures to build and grow the team to meet the needs of the business
  • NDT NADCAP audit coordination
  • Support in-process and new product design and introduction inspections
  • Perform internal quality and safety audits as well as participate in internal and external quality audits
  • Assist with the development of Quality Technicians where applicable
  • Any other task assigned by your supervisor or management

Non-essential Functions:

  • Customer source inspection
  • Delegated Manufacturing Inspection Representative (DMIR – FAA) and conformity inspection
  • Stamp Control and audits

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience: 2+ years closely related work experience in the defense, or high end aerospace industry; 2+ years leadership experience
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of Quality Management Systems as well as Process Improvement and Control Techniques; Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing best practices, process control, logistics processes (inventory management), engineering management (project management) and safety management
  • Skills/Abililties: Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills; Effective written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills; Ability to manage through influence; Abilty to demonstrate a strong sense of urgency
  • Education/Certification: B.A. or B.S. degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, operations management or related field. Open to 8+ years experience in lieu of degree.
  • Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Previous supervisory experience within an aerospace or metal manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with web-based software
