The Quality Technician is primarily responsible for the inspection and compliance verification of incoming raw steel, plastics, and wood materials, in-process production, and finished goods. Secondarily, the Quality Technician is expected to participate in problem-solving activities, and the data input and presentation of inspection, audit, and testing results. The Quality Technician is responsible for helping to promote a healthy quality-focused culture throughout all Oliver Technologies facilities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
· Perform incoming inspections of raw materials, using micrometers, calipers, coating thickness gauges and ultrasonic thickness gauges. Verify incoming material certification documentation for compliance with requirements and against drawing requirements.
· Perform process and product audits throughout the plant and distribution center, measuring and assessing key quality characteristics of the process(es).
· Write SOPs, Quality Alerts, and create visual aids to support the production floor and facilitate continuous improvement throughout Oliver Technologies facilities.
· Clear and efficient communication of quality problems as they arise to all affected internal customers.
· Perform product sorts as necessary of questionable raw materials, in-process production, finished production, and returned materials.
· Participate in regular product testing and validation, including the use of load cells, test jigs and fixtures.
· Perform data entry of daily quality metrics, audit results, ERP transactions, testing result data, and customer complaint tracking.
· Participate in root cause and problem-solving analysis functions, including but not limited to 5 Why, Fish Bone Diagrams, and Corrective Action Reports.
· Monitor and audit the performance of calibrated tools, jigs, and fixtures.
· Promote a safe and productive workplace.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Ability to solve problems and exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
· PC proficiency, including Microsoft Word and particularly Microsoft Excel is strongly preferred.
· Familiarity with product sampling and sorting is strongly preferred.
· Familiarity with using micrometers, calipers, thickness gauges, load cells, and scales is ideal.
SKILLS:
· Must have good written and verbal communication skills, and have the ability to be approachable and tactful.
· Good organizational, time management, and planning skills.
· Demonstrated ability to maintain detail-oriented focus while balancing several simultaneous duties.
