Relationship Manager – Commercial Banking

Compensation:
$125,000 – $191,000 per year, depending on experience
About the Role:
We’re seeking a highly motivated Relationship Manager to join a well-established commercial banking team in Bakersfield, CA. In this role, you'll be responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of commercial and commercial real estate clients. This includes originating new loans (primarily non-owner occupied commercial real estate), expanding existing relationships, and delivering tailored banking solutions to meet the unique needs of businesses.
What You’ll Do:
- Cultivate and manage a portfolio of business clients with an emphasis on lending, deposits, and treasury services
- Build strong relationships with commercial and CRE borrowers, including developers, investors, and business owners
- Develop and execute a proactive business development strategy to generate new commercial opportunities
- Support department growth objectives through collaboration, pipeline development, and client retention
- Ensure adherence to internal policies, regulatory guidelines, and credit risk standards
- Participate in community and networking events to promote the bank’s presence and build connections
- Monitor credit quality and portfolio performance; assist with ongoing risk management and documentation reviews
- Work closely with credit analysts, underwriters, and senior leadership to structure, present, and close loan deals
- Deliver consistent, high-quality service to all clients aligned with the organization’s core values and service philosophy
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3–5+ years of commercial lending or commercial real estate banking experience preferred
- Strong understanding of credit, loan structuring, and financial analysis
- Proven track record in business development and client relationship management
- Effective communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance, loan documentation, and risk protocols
