Job Description
The Opportunity:
Mattel, Inc. is seeking an experienced and self motivated Sr. Product Designer to join its Games design team. The group is focused on creating new product opportunities for the Games division. Are you a Collectable Card Game player with an interest in defining new worlds and card game matrices. Do you have an interest in making physical games and engineering social and game play interactions that promote mastery and collectability? We’re looking for someone to help build a new system and play pattern based on collectability. The primary work will be designing physical games, so passion for tabletop games is a must.
What Your Impact Will Be:
- Actively generate new opportunities to enhance the brand
- Execute on both Product Designs and Digital Designs
- Design and develop physical tabletop games
- Build consensus between members throughout the design process
- Partner with Development Design, Engineering, Packaging and Cost Engineering to insure product integrity and marketing objectives
- Daily communication with Asia partners
- Successfully present and communicate their concepts to the design and marketing management and creative departments
- Manage all the phases of design and development with other disciplines within the company
Qualifications
What We’re Looking For:
- 3+ years of game design/development experience, preferably in the Collectible Card area
- Experience playing Collectible Game Systems, bonus for designing them
- Must be proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator and Excel
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Knowledge of material and manufacturing process
- Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
- Ability to manage complex projects
- Ideal candidate will exhibit interest and knowledge of the current trends. Understanding of features and play patterns in the toy industry is a plus.
- Portfolio demonstrating strong design excellence and superior problem solving
- Interest in collectable gaming and development
- Interest in psychology behind collectability
- Prior experience designing collectible systems and matrices
The annual base salary range for this position is between $76,800.00 and $110,000.00.
**This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience.
