About the Role
OpenAI is seeking a Sensor Systems Engineer to lead the development, integration, and deployment of advanced sensing solutions. In this role, you will define and refine reliable, high-precision sensing systems that enhance AI models’ ability to perceive, interpret, and interact with complex environments. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to innovate, prototype, and scale advanced sensing strategies tailored for diverse real-world AI applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Define sensing requirements to support AI models in real-world applications.
Lead the design and development of advanced sensing solutions from concept through scalable deployment.
Contribute to early-stage prototyping, modeling, and validation of sensing strategies.
Ideal Candidate:
Extensive experience developing and deploying advanced sensing solutions across multiple modalities.
Hands-on experience with high-volume production processes, including precision testing and calibration of complex systems.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively across interdisciplinary teams, including product design, software engineering, and algorithm development.
Strong proficiency in simulation, signal processing, and machine learning using Python.
Bonus Qualifications:
Familiarity with low-power signal processing architectures for sensing systems.
Experience designing sensing strategies for multimodal AI models.
Background integrating sensing systems into robotics or autonomous platforms.
