Solar Crew Leader Job Description

Position Summary

The Solar Crew Leader is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily activities of a construction crew on job sites. This role involves direct supervision of crew members, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. The Crew Leader acts as the primary point of contact between the project manager and the crew, facilitating clear communication and problem-solving.


Key Responsibilities

  • Supervision and Leadership:
  • Lead, train, and motivate a team of construction workers.
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to crew members based on project requirements and individual skills.
  • Monitor crew performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Monitor, manage, approve crew members timesheets and expenses.
  • Project Execution:
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate project execution.
  • Oversee the setup and breakdown of job sites.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with project plans, timelines, and budget.
  • Identify and resolve on-site issues or discrepancies promptly.
  • Coordinate with other trades and contractors as needed.
  • Safety and Quality Control:
  • Enforce all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct daily morning safety “tailgate” talks.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections.
  • Ensure all necessary safety equipment is available and properly used.
  • Monitor the quality of work performed, ensuring it meets industry standards and client expectations.
  • Implement corrective actions for any quality deficiencies.
  • Communication and Reporting:
  • Communicate daily progress, challenges, and resource needs to the project manager.
  • Maintain accurate daily logs, including crew hours, materials used, and work completed.
  • Report any incidents, accidents, or safety violations immediately.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for crew members regarding project-related questions or concerns.
  • Equipment and Materials Management:
  • Oversee the proper use, maintenance, and care of tools and equipment.
  • Ensure materials are ordered, delivered, and stored efficiently on site.
  • Minimize material waste.

Qualifications

Requirement

Description

Education

High school diploma or equivalent;

NABCEP Associate or higher;

Vocational training, Electrical License is a plus.

Experience

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in construction, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.

Skills

Strong leadership and communication skills. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Proficient in reading blueprints and technical drawings. Strong understanding of solar construction methods, materials, and tools.

Certifications

OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred. Valid driver's license. Telehandler Certification.

Physical Demands

Ability to lift heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and work in various weather conditions.

Working Conditions

  • The Construction Crew Leader will primarily work outdoors on construction sites, which may expose them to varying weather conditions, noise, dust, and potential hazards.
  • The role may require working extended hours, including weekends, to meet project deadlines.
  • This role requires extensive travel to multiple states for several weeks at a time, if not longer
