Make a Meaningful Impact in a Sustainable Future – Join the City of Keene as our Solid Waste Manager!
Are you an experienced leader passionate about environmental stewardship and resource management? The City of Keene is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Solid Waste Manager to oversee the operations of our Solid Waste Division, including our landfill, transfer station, materials recovery facility, composting programs, and household hazardous waste collection.
In this critical role, you'll lead a dedicated team, manage budgets and state permits, and play a central part in advancing the City's sustainability goals. From overseeing composting operations and landfill gas-to-energy systems to educating the public and staying ahead of market and legislative trends, you’ll be at the forefront of responsible solid waste management in our community.
This is more than just a job — it’s an opportunity to shape the way Keene handles waste, protects the environment, and plans for the future.
Our Community
The City of Keene is an energetic community that provides services, programs, and resources for a much greater population than the residents of the City alone. Although the conveniences and attractions of large metropolitan areas are close at hand, the community maintains a solidly residential working-class character, complemented by a landscape of rural areas, farms, and open space. The heart of the community is its vibrant, yet historic, downtown core. In an age when many communities are losing their “sense of place,” Keene has a firm sense of its identity, built on a foundation of the past and a clear vision of the future.
