Job Title: Special Education Case Manager
Responsibilities:
The Special Education Case Manager maintains a caseload to include students with special education eligibility as well as students with 504 plans. Duties include:
- Writing and maintaining appropriate documentation with accommodations as required (504s and IEPs), and ensuring that documents and reports are 100% accurate and delivered on time
- Holding annual meetings to update documentation.
- Keeping general education teachers apprised of IEP/504 goals and accommodations to ensure that all student needs are met both within and outside the classroom; collaborating with general education teachers and special education paraprofessionals to ensure that instruction supports the inclusion of IEP/504 students in the classroom.
- Tracking student progress and sending home progress reports; monitoring student grades in general education classes.
- Determining when a student is struggling in a general education class (academically or behaviorally) and working with the other team members to find a solution; determining when additional support/strategies are needed for student success; communicating to appropriate personnel for implementation of strategies.
- Using best practices to staff the CMC/Resource Room and provide instruction to all students on the caseload who attend classes or work sessions in the CMC/Resource Room.
- Coordinating standardized assessment arrangements for students on the caseload
- Fulfilling regular duties to aid with student arrival, dismissal, lunch duty, and the transition to after-school activities or other duties as assigned.
- Scheduling and attending weekly or bi-weekly meetings with paraprofessionals who serve students on the caseload to discuss progress and strategies.
- Attending monthly or as scheduled Team meetings
- Attending professional development, staff meetings, and other required events.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree
Minimum 5 years of teaching experience in Special Education.
Knowledge of the 504 Plan process.
Certification in Special Education
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek.
May lift 5–10 pounds frequently, 10–50 pounds occasionally, and more than 50 pounds infrequently. Must maintain emotional control under stress. Moderate walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, twisting. May work indoors and outdoors in varying climate conditions. Subject to visual acuity, speech/hearing, hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity.
Pay is commensurate with experience.
