Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Paraprofessional to support teachers and assist students in a dynamic educational environment. The ideal candidate will work closely with students with special needs, to foster an inclusive and engaging learning atmosphere. This role is essential in helping to implement educational programs and strategies that promote student success.
Responsibilities:
New Horizon Center team members are entrusted with creating a safe and enjoyable environment for students ages 3-22.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Lifting and Mobility: Ability to at least 25 lbs, ensuring the safety and comfort of students under your care.
- Engaging with Students: Squatting down to student's eye level to facilitate positive interactions and build connections at that level.
- Maintaining Learning Areas: Bending over to pick up materials and ensuring the spaces are tidy, organized, and conducive to a stimulating and enjoyable experience for the students.
- Active Participation: Keeping up with the energy and enthusiasm of the students, actively engaging in playful learning, and fostering a joyful atmosphere.
- Supporting your Team: New Horizon Center supports each other in all capacitates and daily duties. You will be a team player in both your assigned classroom and throughout the building.
Duties
- Assist teachers in delivering instructional activities and adapting lessons to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Support classroom management by maintaining a positive learning environment and addressing behavioral challenges effectively.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, ensuring they understand the material and stay engaged.
- Help with literacy education initiatives, promoting reading and writing skills among students.
- Communicate effectively with teachers , and other staff members regarding student progress and any concerns that may arise.
- Assist in the preparation of classroom materials and resources to enhance learning experiences.
- Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to improve skills related to special education practices.
