Position Summary:
The Seattle Kraken are accepting applications for an intern strength and conditioning role September 2025 to April 2026. This role will work directly with the strength and conditioning staff for the Seattle Kraken.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Support the strength and conditioning delivery for NHL players, assisting with the following:
- Daily movement assessments
- Pre-practice movement preparation and warm-ups
- Pre-lift preparation individualization
- Individualized training and reconditioning processes
- Athletic profiling (assessment; strength and power diagnostics using forceplate testing; Gymaware monitoring; COSMED metabolic testing)
- Catapult/Polar heart rate monitoring – assisting in process around player tracking in practice
- Player reports – learning how to compile data around assessment, testing, training and monitoring to report to coaches and support staff
- Strength training program creation and delivery for assigned athletes
- Special research project assistance (BFR training, isometric program delivery, etc)
What You Will Learn:
In addition to working directly with the teams, the individuals will have the opportunity to:
- Shadow and see the day to day process of the strength and conditioning staff
- Participate and contribute to strength and conditioning staff meetings
- Sit in meetings with support staff detailing training process and action items
- Interact with other expert coaches in the industry through Skype talks around topics of interest
- Create a training portfolio of presentations and projects that can be taken into future job interviews
Individuals will have a loose curriculum around topics related to strength and conditioning, sport science and reconditioning. At the end of the internship, the individual will have a project they will present in front of the strength & conditioning staff that can be added to their portfolio.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of high school diploma or GED. Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree.
- Current First Aid / CPR / AED certified
- Previous experience in formal exercise instruction
- Currently pursuing certification of National Strength and Conditioning Association certification (CSCS)
Departmental Required Skills:
- Applicants should be working towards an undergraduate or graduate degree with an emphasis in the Sport Science field (i.e. exercise physiology, biomechanics or equivalent discipline)
- Ability to commit to at least 20 hours per week
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:
- Current certification of National Strength and Conditioning Association certification (CSCS)
- Experience working with athletes and coaches
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Self-motivated, and able to engage in self-directed projects
Compensation & Perks:
- In accordance with Washington’s Equal Pay and Opportunity Act, the pay rate for the position is $22/hr.

Working Conditions:
- This role is based on-site in our Seattle office and at Climate Pledge Arena. Requires work to be performed in person. However, we do value flexibility as the business will allow, and offer occasional opportunities to work from home.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights and holidays required
- Frequent bending, lifting 15-20 pounds, sitting, exposure to multiple external elements, extensive walking through the building including inclines and stairs.
- Must have transportation to and from events.
