1. Supervises all aspects of department operations effectively and efficiently.
- Supervises day-to-day operations, which includes problem solving issues and ensuring effective processing.
- Works with other departments in providing services and resources.
- Monitors workflow and departmental processes.
- Assist in department goals and objectives.
- Audit rooms and common areas, including stairwells and lounge areas for cleanliness for each shift as needed
- Responds to customer complaints and special requests
2. Responsible for communication and training of policies related to environmental services department for Shenandoah Medical Center.
- Works closely with Housekeepers, floor finishers, and laundry workers in all areas to monitor accuracy and productivity.
- Rounds with members of second shift staff monthly using Leader Rounding Form.
- Remains knowledgeable on how to operate all Housekeeping, floor finishing, and laundry equipment, and be able to train caregivers.
- Remains up to date with all safety equipment and devices, and trains caregivers in the use of safety equipment.
- Follows Material Safety Information, Infection Control procedures, and other applicable regulations such as the OSHA blood born pathogen standard, EPA infectious waste guidelines, etc.
- Trains staff in the use of cleaning chemicals and how to use personal protective equipment in the use of those chemicals.
- Remains familiar with cleaning techniques and procedures in all areas of the facility.
3. Supervises and performs employee relations effectively to promote a positive work environment, influence retention and enhances communication.
- Develops, supports, and actively seeks activities and establishes an environment that promotes recognition and retention for employees.
- Communicate effectively and provide feedback to staff which may include department meetings, individual employee meetings, rounding, etc.
- Addresses employee issues in an effective and timely manner.
- Communicate with Manager and HR regarding employee issues appropriately in an effort to obtain guidance and reduce potential organizational liability.
- Assists with administration of performance appraisal process for staff, with feedback for positive reinforcement of strengths and opportunities for growth/improvement.
- Assists in delivering thorough and effective training to staff.
- Maintains timekeeping records and updates appropriately and accurately for department staff.
- Assists and participates in annual budgeting planning process for areas of responsibility.
4. Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience
Required- • At least one (1) year Environmental Services experience • Previous lead level or management experience preferred
Education
Required- High School or better
