Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Traffic Control Managerto oversee all aspects of traffic management and safety operations. This role will be responsible for supervising field crews, ensuring compliance with local and state regulations, maintaining safety standards, and supporting the day-to-day operational execution of traffic control jobs.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervision & Crew Management
- Lead and coordinate traffic control teams on job sites
- Provide training, direction, and ongoing support to traffic control technicians
- Ensure proper deployment of personnel and equipment per traffic control plans
- Safety & Compliance
- Enforce strict safety standards and ensure team compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (MUTCD, OSHA, DOT)
- Conduct site inspections and risk assessments
- Maintain updated documentation for permits, inspections, and incident reports
- Planning & Execution
- Interpret traffic control plans (TCPs) and ensure correct implementation on-site
- Adapt plans in the field as needed, based on site conditions and safety needs
- Communicate effectively with contractors, clients, and public authorities
- Equipment & Inventory Oversight
- Ensure all equipment is operational, accounted for, and properly deployed
- Manage on-site inventory and coordinate with the warehouse/supply team
- Administrative Duties
- Complete daily job reports and crew time sheets
- Assist with scheduling, job cost tracking, and logistical planning
- Participate in post-job reviews and project evaluations
Requirements
- Certification: Valid Traffic Control Supervisor certification (e.g., ATSSA or equivalent in the State of Michigan)
- Experience: 5+ years in mid-level manager, with at least 3 years in traffic control
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of MUTCD, DOT standards, OSHA compliance
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead teams in the field with confidence and integrity
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Technology: Comfortable using scheduling apps, GPS, digital reporting tools, and email
- Licensing: Valid driver’s license with clean driving record; CDL preferred but not required
- Physical: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., work outdoors in all weather conditions, and stand/walk for 4 or more consecutive hours

- Comfortable working early mornings, evenings, or weekends as needed
