Job Description
IPS is currently hiring Unarmed Security Guards to support our growing retail security division in Stockton and surrounding areas. This role is responsible for ensuring the safety of staff, customers, merchandise, and the property itself by maintaining a visible presence, preventing theft, and responding professionally to incidents.
Starting Pay: $20.00 to $22.00/hour
Shifts: Vary based on location and client need
Coverage Area: Stockton and nearby cities (must be open to multiple retail locations)
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must possess a valid California BSIS Guard Card
- Must have a valid Powers to Arrest (PTOA) certificate
- Must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel to different retail sites
- Must have open availability, including weekends and holidays as needed
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods and respond quickly to dynamic situations
- Strong verbal communication and observation skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
- Prior experience in retail security, loss prevention, or similar roles preferred
Additional Information
Key Responsibilities
- Patrol retail locations on foot or via monitoring equipment to ensure a secure environment
- Deter theft, vandalism, and loitering through a strong, professional security presence
- Monitor surveillance systems and promptly report suspicious activity or incidents
- Enforce store policies and support client staff with policy compliance
- Respond to emergencies, disturbances, or incidents and document actions taken
- Maintain accurate, timely incident reports and daily activity logs
- Communicate clearly with IPS supervisors, client representatives, and law enforcement as needed
- Provide outstanding customer service and uphold IPS’s core values at all times
