Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Receptionist to join our team. This role is critical in providing exceptional customer service and support to pet owners while ensuring the smooth operation of our veterinary clinic. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and possess strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients and their pets. This will be a cross trained position with a Veterinary Assistant.
Receptionist Responsibilities:
- Greet clients and their pets upon arrival, providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
- Schedule appointments, manage the front desk, and handle client inquiries efficiently.
- Maintain accurate patient records, including medical histories and treatment plans.
- Assist veterinary staff with animal handling, restraint, and medication administration as needed.
- Provide information to clients regarding pet care, veterinary services, and clinic policies.
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the reception area and clinic facilities.
- Process payments and manage billing inquiries with accuracy.
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians and veterinarians to ensure high-quality patient care.
Veterinary Assistant Responsibilities:
- Caring for boarded pets
- Bathing
- Cleaning
- Basic restraint
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting is highly preferred.
- Evening, weekend, and holiday availability
- Reliable transportation
- 18 years or older
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and husbandry practices is essential.
- Experience in front desk operations, including scheduling and customer service skills. The software we use is Infinity.
- Familiarity with animal handling techniques, including dog and cat handling and restraint methods.
- Ability to administer medications and understand aseptic techniques is advantageous.
- Experience in laboratory procedures or veterinary critical care is a plus. We use Idexx bloodwork machines.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing records and appointments.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with clients and team members.
