Overview
The Visitation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing court-ordered and/or agency-approved parent–child visits in a safe, neutral, and supportive environment. This role ensures that all visits are conducted in accordance with agency policies, state guidelines, and best practices to promote family reunification while safeguarding the well-being of children.
Duties
- Supervise and monitor in-person visitation between children and parents/guardians to ensure a safe and appropriate environment.
- Document observations of interactions objectively and in detail for use in reports to social workers, attorneys, and the court.
- Intervene as needed to redirect unsafe or inappropriate behavior while maintaining a neutral and professional demeanor.
- Ensure visits start and end on time and that all agency safety protocols are followed.
- Maintain accurate and timely records, including daily logs, incident reports, and progress notes.
- Communicate effectively with caseworkers, agency staff, and other professionals regarding visitation outcomes and concerns.
- Provide transportation for children to and from visitation locations as needed (if applicable).
- Assist in preparing and maintaining visitation spaces to ensure they are clean, welcoming, and child-friendly.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and case reviews to support ongoing professional development.
- Uphold confidentiality standards in all aspects of work.
Experience
- Prior experience working with children and families
- Strong observational, documentation, and written communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm, neutral, and professional in high-stress situations.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (if transportation duties apply).
- Ability to pass background checks and meet agency clearance requirements.
