The Worship Leader will work closely with the pastor to plan worship services that will help lead our
congregation to see and savor the greatness of God in Jesus Christ, in the power of the Holy Spirit. The
goal of this position is to foster dynamic congregational worship.
Requirements/Skills:
- Skilled in singing and playing a musical instrument, preferably keyboard or guitar.
- Ability to listen to and communicate with people of all ages and musical backgrounds.
- Interest in a wide range of musical experiences.
- Ability to work with volunteers and committees.
- Sensitive to what makes worship effective.
- Complete background check
Responsibilities:
- Work with the pastor to select music for combined traditional/contemporary service on Sunday
mornings.
o Song selections each Sunday should include at least one hymn.
- Model and lead heartfelt congregational worship on Sunday mornings in an invitational style
that draws people in, encourages participation, and points people to Jesus.
- Recruit and audition musicians to serve the congregation as a team with musical skill and
humility
- Lead weekly rehearsals in preparation for Sunday worship
- Prepare or assist with creation of projection script for Sunday worship
- Plan and lead seasonal music selections or programs
o Typical additional worship services include, but are not limited to: Christmas Eve, Ash
Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Easter Sonrise Service
- Secure a substitute worship leader during absences
- Track and report CCLI information, as required.
Remuneration:
- 5-10 hours per week with the flexibility to adjust working hours during the week as needed.
o Number of hours will vary depending on scheduled and seasonal events.
- Merit evaluation of wages determined annually.
- Paid Time Off: Four Sundays per year
o Includes vacation and sick days
o Must secure a substitute worship leader when absent.
o Additional days off are negotiable, without pay.
Evaluation:
- The Worship Leader is under the direct supervision of the pastor and will work closely with the
Governing Board (GB)/Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) and Worship Committee.
- The Worship Leader will be evaluated annually by the GB/SPRC with the aid of the pastor.
- A newly hired Worship Leader will have a performance review 60 days after their start date, and
again six months after their start date to determine if the employee’s skills meet the needs of New Life Methodis Church.

Pay: $10,000.00 - $11,000.00 per year
