Job description

Lead Systems Integration Engineer

12-Month Contract | NV1 Clearance Required | NV2 Preferred

Paxus is seeking an experienced Lead Systems Integration Engineer to support a major technology capability program within a secure Commonwealth Government environment.

This is an opportunity to take a technical leadership role in a complex system-of-systems program, working across systems engineering, architecture, integration, requirements development and acquisition preparation.

The program is progressing from capability definition towards acquisition and delivery, providing an opportunity to influence critical engineering decisions and establish the technical foundations for future implementation.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Working with engineering, architecture and capability delivery teams, you'll lead systems engineering and integration activities across a complex technology environment.

You'll be responsible for guiding requirements development, evaluating technical solutions, developing system architectures and engineering documentation, and ensuring integration and interoperability considerations are addressed throughout the design process.

The role requires an experienced engineer who can operate independently, make sound technical judgements and provide authoritative advice to senior stakeholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead system and subsystem requirements analysis, decomposition, design and traceability activities.
  • Develop system architectures, technical specifications, interface designs and integration approaches.
  • Lead solution development, technical assessments and design trade-off activities.
  • Produce engineering documentation, including Functional and Performance Specifications (FPS), System and Subsystem Design Descriptions (SSDDs), High-Level Designs (HLDs) and Detailed Designs.
  • Lead technical reviews, architecture evaluations, interoperability assessments and engineering assurance activities.
  • Develop technical procurement documentation, including Statements of Requirement (SoR) and Statements of Work (SoW).
  • Provide technical leadership and engineering advice to capability development and delivery stakeholders.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Extensive systems engineering and integration experience within complex ICT or Government environments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading requirements development, systems architecture and technical design activities.
  • Experience preparing business cases or capability development documentation supporting formal Government investment approvals.
  • Proven ability to develop engineering specifications, system designs, interface documentation and technical artefacts.
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering methodologies, verification and validation, and engineering governance.
  • Experience assessing technical solutions, integration requirements and interoperability across complex systems.
  • Excellent analytical, technical writing and stakeholder engagement skills.

HIGHLY DESIRABLE

  • Experience with complex operational, intelligence or mission-support systems.
  • Experience using DOORS, DOORS Next Generation (DNG), CATIA or similar engineering tools.
  • Knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and practical modelling experience.
  • Qualifications in systems engineering, software engineering, integration engineering or a related ICT discipline.
  • Experience supporting major Commonwealth capability acquisition and delivery programs.

SECURITY CLEARANCE

Applicants must hold a current AGSVA NV1 security clearance as a minimum. NV2 clearance is highly desirable.
