Lead the operational delivery of Hume Bank’s products and payments, combining hands-on systems expertise, vendor management and continuous improvement.

Why join us?

  • Play a key role in the day-to-day operation and improvement of payments and banking products.
  • Work across Product, Technology, Banking Operations, Customer Experience and frontline teams.
  • Bring your payments expertise to a role with real ownership across systems, vendors, testing and operational delivery.
  • Lead and develop a Product Officer while helping strengthen product capability across the wider business.
About the role

As our Product Manager, Payments & Operations, you’ll be a hands-on member of the Product team, responsible for the ongoing operational management, support and delivery of Hume Bank’s product portfolio, with a specialised focus on payments products and services.

Working closely with other Product Managers and teams across Technology, Banking Operations and Customer Experience, you’ll translate product strategy into effective operational delivery and help ensure our products are supported throughout their lifecycle from both a systems and operational perspective.

You’ll be the central point of contact for day-to-day product and operational enquiries, provide payments subject matter expertise, manage key vendor relationships, coordinate testing and support the delivery of product and payments improvements.

You’ll also provide leadership and support to our Product Officer and help build strong product knowledge and operational capability across the business.

What you can expect

  • Provide payments subject matter expertise and resolve complex product and payment operational matters in partnership with teams across the bank.
  • Coordinate and execute testing across our core banking system, banking app and internet banking platforms, with a focus on payments functionality.
  • Manage key payments vendors, lead service reviews and coordinate the resolution of service issues and enhancements.
  • Oversee card ordering and inventory, including stock levels, costs, procedures, system tasks and vendor requirements.
  • Own the operational delivery of product rate changes across lending and deposits, ensuring required activities are completed across the bank.
  • Drive continuous improvement, operational resilience and product readiness, including supporting CPS 230 activities, procedures, controls and operational reporting.
About you To be successful in the role, you will:

  • Bring 5+ years’ experience in banking, payments, product operations or a customer-facing operational role within financial services.
  • Have strong knowledge of banking products, with subject matter expertise across payments, card operations and digital banking channels.
  • Have experience completing operational tasks within business systems and working with core banking or product/payment integrations.
  • Bring experience managing card production, inventory or a similar operational supply process.
  • Have experience managing third-party vendors and service relationships, including service reviews and issue escalation.
  • Be experienced in coordinating testing or UAT activities for digital banking platforms.
  • Have experience leading or supervising a small team, including coaching, development and performance management.
  • Hold a tertiary qualification in business, banking, finance or a related discipline, or bring equivalent industry experience. Experience with NPP/Osko, BPAY, Direct Entry, Cards, Open Banking and digital banking products will be highly regarded.

We know we’re a well-kept secret to many – and that’s exactly why we’re growing our brand and marketing capability right now.

We’re a regional bank with real agility, real community roots and a brand that’s finding its momentum. If you want your marketing to land in people’s lives and make a difference – this is the place to do it.

Our Values are With Respect, Growing Together and Shaping Tomorrow and they’re the way we work.
