Job description

At Thomas Global, we design and deliver advanced, high-integrity simulation and training systems that support defence capability around the world. We are now seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead Defence project delivery and sustainment activities, working closely with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure successful through-life support outcomes.

Part-time initially with a transition to Full-time

This is a part-time position, initially 3 days per week, with the opportunity to transition to full-time as Defence program requirements evolve, likely from Q2 2027.

The role is ideal for someone who enjoys technically complex environments and can balance project delivery, sustainment activities and stakeholder engagement.

Veterans or those with Army, Defence / Defence Industry experience are encouraged to apply!

What You’ll Do

  • Lead assigned simulation, training, security and sustainment projects.
  • Administer support contracts and ensure contractual deliverables, schedules and performance requirements are met.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, forecasts, risks and reporting.
  • Manage supplier and subcontractor performance, including spares availability, repairs and turnaround times.
  • Monitor system availability, service levels and other key performance indicators.
  • Act as a key interface with defence customers, end users, suppliers and industry partners.
  • Ensure compliance with defence, security, quality, safety and contractual requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve project delivery, system supportability and through-life outcomes.

What You Bring

  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering, project management, logistics or a related discipline.
  • Experience in project or program management within defence, aerospace or a similarly regulated technical environment.
  • Experience supporting defence acquisition and/or sustainment programs.
  • Experience administering defence contracts, ideally under ASDEFCON or an equivalent contracting framework.
  • Strong supplier, subcontractor and stakeholder management capability.
  • Experience managing budgets, schedules, performance reporting and project risk.
  • A sound understanding of maintenance planning, supply support, technical data, configuration management, training and obsolescence management.
  • Strong communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Australian citizenship and eligibility to obtain an Australian Defence security clearance.
  • Capacity to undertake occasional domestic travel.
