The Role

As Senior Automation QA Engineer, you will be involved in architecting and scaling our automated testing infrastructure. Beyond execution, this role is responsible for designing robust, maintainable frameworks that accelerate our CI/CD pipeline. This role involves working closely with development and product teams to define and execute test strategies, identifying automatable scenarios and ensuring automation coverage across applications. They will collaborate with engineering leadership to set quality benchmarks, mentor junior testers, and ensure our software remains resilient as we scale.

The ideal candidate has a meticulous attention to detail and a passion for identifying and solving complex problems.

Requirements

Outcomes to Deliver

  • Modular automation and coverage: Build, maintain and optimise modular automation that is reusable across teams, and ensure automation coverage across applications.
  • CI/CD integration: Contribute to integration of automation frameworks with the CI/CD pipelines to ensure build quality.
  • Load testing: Design and execute load tests (using tools like JMeter, K6 or Locust) to identify bottlenecks and test auto scaling capabilities.
  • Test strategy and quality benchmarks: Work closely with development and product teams to define and execute test strategies, identifying automatable scenarios, and collaborate with engineering leadership to set quality benchmarks.
  • Test plans, cases and data: Design and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases (manual and automated) based on product requirements and design specifications, and prepare and maintain test data.
  • Defect management: Identify, document and track defects using a bug tracking system (e.g. Jira), collaborate with software developers to understand the technical architecture and resolve defects efficiently, and verify that resolved issues are properly implemented and do not introduce new regressions.
  • Agile delivery and reporting: Participate in agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups and retrospectives, and provide test estimates, reporting and test summary documentation.
  • Mentoring: Mentor testers and promote automation best practices.

Capabilities to Bring

  • Automation experience: 5-10 years’ experience in automation testing within enterprise environments, with strong hands-on experience building and enhancing automation frameworks.
  • SDLC and STLC: Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC), including agile and scrum methodologies.
  • Tools and scripting: Practical experience implementing, onboarding and utilising test automation and load testing tools, including but not limited to Postman (or similar) for API testing, Playwright and/or Selenium for UI automation, and JMeter (or similar performance testing frameworks) for load testing, and experience with scripting languages such as Python and/or JavaScript for developing and maintaining test automation frameworks.
  • E-commerce and mobile: Experience working with complex digital products or high-traffic e-commerce platforms, including familiarity with common e-commerce workflows (e.g. checkout, payments, inventory), and experience performing quality assurance on native iOS and Android mobile applications, including familiarity with cross-device and mobile network testing.
  • Accessibility: Knowledge and understanding of digital accessibility standards (e.g. WCAG) and experience testing products for compliance.
  • SQL: Ability to write and execute basic to intermediate SQL queries to validate data integrity.
  • Pace and initiative: Self-starter who takes initiative and prioritises, is comfortable driving action when there is ambiguity, and is able to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail and problem solving: Always reviews their work and provides sound attention to detail, with exceptional problem solving and analytic skills.
