Senior Azure Architect

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Azure Architect with a strong hands-on engineering background to join a complex enterprise environment.

This is not a purely strategic architecture role. We are looking for someone who has progressed from Azure/Cloud Engineering into Architecture while retaining strong technical capability and a willingness to remain hands-on.

You will be responsible for designing, implementing and supporting secure, scalable and resilient Azure solutions, working across cloud infrastructure, networking, security, automation, DevOps and integration.

You will have the ability to take solutions from high-level architecture and technical design through to implementation, troubleshooting and optimisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement secure, scalable Azure solutions across cloud, infrastructure, networking and security.
• Lead Azure migration, modernisation and cloud transformation initiatives.
• Develop architecture designs, technical documentation and implementation plans.
• Configure and manage core Azure services including VNets, VMs, App Services, Azure SQL, Storage, Key Vault and AKS.
• Design and manage Azure networking, connectivity and security.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform/Bicep and support CI/CD automation.
• Troubleshoot complex Azure infrastructure, networking and security issues.
• Work with Cyber Security, Infrastructure, Development and DevOps teams to deliver cloud solutions.
• Provide technical guidance on performance, resilience, governance and cost optimisation.
• Maintain Azure Landing Zones, cloud standards and governance frameworks.

Key Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will have:

• Strong experience in Azure Cloud Engineering and Architecture.
• Hands-on experience building, configuring and troubleshooting Azure environments.
• Strong knowledge of Azure networking, security and identity.
• Experience with Terraform/Bicep, Azure DevOps, CI/CD and automation.
• Experience with Azure migration, modernisation and cloud transformation.
• Understanding of high availability, disaster recovery, monitoring and performance.
• Experience with Azure integration services such as API Management, Logic Apps, Functions and Service Bus.
• Strong problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to balance architecture and hands-on engineering.
