Data#3 is seeking a Senior Data & AI Engineer to join our Professional Services team and grow our Data, Analytics & AI capabilities. This role is ideal for someone passionate about Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data platform services, Databricks, and Azure Foundry and AI technologies, and who thrives in hands on delivery roles within modern data & AI solutions. You’ll work as part of a high-performing delivery team, collaborating closely with solution architects to implement secure, reliable, and well‑governed data platform components that bring customer solutions to life.
Duties:
· Design, build, and operate modern data platforms aligned to agreed solution architectures on the Microsoft Azure stack.
· Implement and maintain core data platform components, including Lakehouses, Warehouses, Data Pipelines, Notebooks, SQL & PySpark workloads, and Semantic Models.
· Develop ingestion, transformation, orchestration, and serving patterns using Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks, Azure SQL, and ADLS Gen2/OneLake.
· Build and optimise SQL and Spark-based transformations, data models, and processing patterns.
· Deliver lakehouse layers, ETL/ELT pipelines, and data product components.
· Support troubleshooting, performance tuning, and environment readiness across dev, test, and production.
· Produce high-quality engineering artefacts and apply governance, security, and operational practices under architectural guidance.
· Produce high-quality engineering deliverables such as configuration documentation, runbooks, data model definitions, test results, and code artefacts.
· Build and integrate AI and ML workloads into solutions, focusing on practical, production-ready use-cases
· Develop GenAI-enabled solutions using services such as Microsoft Foundry/AI Studio and Azure OpenAI, Prompt engineering and orchestration and Integration of AI services with data platforms and business applications
· Implement Azure Machine Learning and/or Data Science assets, including feature engineering, training pipelines, and model deployment.
Skills and experience
· Strong hands-on engineering experience with modern data platforms, including SQL & PySpark, pipelines, notebooks, and lakehouse components.
· Proven delivery experience across Azure data services: Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse, ADLS Gen2, Azure SQL.
· Strong SQL and Python engineering skills, including modelling, optimisation, transformation logic, and performance tuning.
· Familiarity with modern data engineering patterns (ETL/ELT, medallion/lakehouse, orchestration).
· Ability to work within structured architecture direction while owning delivery execution.
· Clear and confident communicator who can explain technical concepts in plain language.
