Job description
Trinity Catholic College Lismore is a co-educational College for students in Years 7 to 12. The College traces its foundation to 1886 when the Presentation Sisters began St. Mary’s College, an independent school for girls. This marks the foundation of Catholic Education in Lismore. The Marist Brothers opened St. Joseph’s Boys High School in 1911 and the two schools operated independently until they amalgamated in 1985 to form Trinity Catholic College. Both religious orders maintain an active involvement in the College. The charisms of St. Marcellin Champagnat, Founder of the Marist Brothers and Venerable Nano Nagle, Founder of the Presentation Sisters, the spirit of Mary, the Mother of Jesus, permeates all aspects of College life.

PURPOSE OF POSITION
The role of the Senior ICT Systems Administrator is to provide quality ICT customer service for students, colleagues and parents of Trinity Catholic College Lismore in accordance with the philosophy and values of the College.
STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITY
The work of the Senior ICT Systems Administrator will be consistent with his or her Contract of Employment, the College’s Code of Staff Conduct, the College’s Strategic Plan, and the College’s Policies, guidelines, processes and practices. The Senior ICT Systems Administrator is guided by IT Service Management (ITSM) best practice. The Senior ICT Systems Administrator uses appropriate knowledge and skills to provide ICT support to the College in order that students receive quality education consistent with Catholic faith and Christian principles, achieved through effective planning, organisation and review. This position reports to the ICT Manager. It has no direct reports; however, it is expected that this position assists in co-ordinating ICT Team members when required.
DIMENSIONS OF SENIOR ICT SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR POSITION
1. Systems Administration
- Installation, configuration and maintenance of VMWare server infrastructure.
- Installation of physical and virtual servers, including operating system, software applications, operating system updates and patches.
- Maintenance and troubleshooting of servers.
- Software Application installation, troubleshooting and testing on MacOS and Windows desktops.
- Provision and maintenance of a standard operating environment (SOE) for MacOS and Windows desktops.
- Design, configuration and maintenance of ICT user authentication and security services such as Active Directory.
- Design, configuration and maintenance of email and intranet services.
- Provide assistance and advice to staff and students in the effective use of applications and information technology.
- Provide minor programming and scripting for various ICT projects and operational support.
- Backups of data from server infrastructure.
- Plan and implement maintenance and upgrades for system software and hardware.
- Participate in problem solving and/or decision making of technical and operational issues.
- Information security and cyber security activities.
- Provide service delivery using IT service management (ITSM) practices.
2. Network Administration
- Install, configure and maintain networking equipment and network operating systems.
- Monitor and configure networks to optimise performance and resolve faults.
- Troubleshoot network switch and router problems.
- Establish and control system access and security levels for ICT network infrastructure.
- Backup network switch and router configurations.
- Document ICT network infrastructure.
3. ICT Level 3 Helpdesk Support
- Provide Level 3 ICT Helpdesk Support.
- Provide support for Helpdesk.
- Assist with Level 1 and Level 2 Helpdesk support as required.
4. Team Technical Documentation
- Write technical procedures and documentation for new and existing ICT infrastructure, applications, including operations, user guides.
- Maintain technical documentation to ensure it is accurate.
- Document change management of ICT infrastructure.
5. Team ICT Projects
- Provide technical expertise and recommendations in assessing new IT software and hardware projects and initiatives.
- Be responsible for successful completion of small ICT Projects.
- Identify opportunities that can improve efficiency of business processes.
6. Team Staff and Student Training
- Assist with staff and student training in general ICT use of technology.
- Assist with training of teachers and students in MacOS.
- Assist with training of teachers with specialist software such as the student management system.
7. Other duties as directed by the ICT Manager or the Principal.
Skills and experience required
- Tertiary qualifications in Computing studies (or relevant experience).
- At least 3 years’ experience in systems administration.
- A good understanding of network operating systems, network equipment and networking protocols.
- Experience in providing technical support to customers.
- Experience working with customer service management framework and change management highly regarded.
