About the role

You will provide critical support to the Medical Research and Innovation Domain, assisting the Domain Lead to deliver the Sydney based Research Training Pathway across all four years of the MD program. Based at the Sydney campus, the role coordinates and supports student research and quality improvement projects from allocation through to completion, working collaboratively with academic and professional staff, clinical supervisors, the University’s Research Office, and Human Research Ethics Committee staff across NSW and Victoria.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Sydney Research Training Pathway delivery, project allocation, and milestone tracking.
  • Maintain student project, supervision, and ethics records.
  • Act as the key contact for project coordination and at-risk project escalation.
  • Support ethics and governance approvals with relevant stakeholders.
  • Recruit and support supervisors, ensuring MD-level project suitability.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to embed MRI learning objectives across the MD Program.
  • Drive continuous improvement of the Research Training Pathway.
  • Support MRI teaching delivery and sessional educator coordination.
  • Contribute to assessment design, marking, and examination activities.
  • Participate in MRI teaching as required.
  • Support scholarship, research, and medical education initiatives.
  • Provide student support for project challenges and research stream transitions.

Qualifications, skills & experience

  • Possession of:
    • a PhD or
    • a Medical qualification registrable with AHPRA and a Fellowship of a relevant professional body.
  • More than 5 years’ experience in teaching at Masters level or higher or in medical, health or professional practice-based education settings.
  • Research experience with a demonstrated track record.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to student support and pastoral care.
  • Knowledge of research methods, ethics, and governance processes.
  • Strong project management skills, including managing multiple priorities and milestones.
  • Supports the mission and values of Notre Dame as a Catholic University.
  • Active research involvement, and experience in university/research settings or student research supervision highly regarded.
