Senior Software Engineers - Python & AI
Job description
We’re looking for multiple Software Engineers to join a high-performing engineering team helping shape how AI is used across a major enterprise.
The focus is not on prototypes or experimentation for its own sake. The team is building production AI systems that will change how customers interact with the business, how employees work, and how software is designed and delivered internally.
This is a software engineering role first, with Python at the centre.
You’ll design, build, deploy and support reliable backend services and AI-enabled workflows, with a strong focus on engineering quality, scalability, reliability and real-world production use.
What you’ll be building
You’ll work across a range of AI-enabled products and services, including:
- Customer-facing and internal AI applications
- Agentic workflows that interact with APIs, systems and enterprise data
- Python backend services and APIs
- RAG and enterprise knowledge solutions
- MCP integrations and AI-enabled tooling
- Headless agents and backend AI services
- Human-in-the-loop workflows
- LLM evaluation and quality frameworks
- Enterprise integrations across internal platforms and data sources
- CI/CD, containerised deployment and production observability
What we’re looking for
Strong candidates will typically have:
- Strong commercial software engineering experience
- Recent hands-on backend development, ideally with Python
- Experience designing APIs, services or distributed systems
- Strong understanding of testing, reliability, failure handling and production support
- Cloud experience across GCP, AWS or Azure
- CI/CD, containers and modern software delivery practices
- Experience taking systems from initial design through to production
- Ability to explain technical decisions, alternatives and trade-offs clearly
Production AI experience
We’re particularly interested in engineers who have personally built AI solutions that made it into production.
Rather than simply having exposure to AI frameworks, you should be able to explain:
- What problem the system was solving
- What you personally designed and built
- Why AI or an agentic approach was appropriate
- What tools, APIs or data the system interacted with
- How retrieval, grounding or RAG worked where relevant
- How you evaluated whether the system was working correctly
- How failures, hallucinations or unreliable outputs were handled
- Where deterministic logic or human approval was deliberately retained
- How the system was monitored and supported in production
The opportunity
This is an opportunity to work on AI at a point where it is becoming core to how a major organisation operates. You’ll help build the platforms, services and engineering patterns that will shape how AI is used across customer products, internal workflows and software delivery over the coming years.
You’ll remain hands-on while contributing to system design, engineering standards and the broader evolution of AI-enabled software across the organisation.
We are looking for both mid-level and senior engineers.
Salary: $160,000 - $240,000 + bonus (flexible for exceptional people)
Location: Sydney
Working model: 3 days per week in the office
Candidates currently based interstate will need to be willing to relocate to Sydney.
