Job Summary

We are currently seeking an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) – Structures / Sheet Metal to join our Melbourne Service Centre, located at Essendon Fields. The AME Sheetmetal is responsible for the fabrication, assembly, installation, modification, inspection, and repair of aircraft structures and sheet metal components. The role performs maintenance in accordance with approved technical data, Structural Repair Manuals (SRM), engineering drawings, company procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements while ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and workmanship.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform aircraft structural repairs, modifications, and sheet metal maintenance on Textron Aviation aircraft.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, Structural Repair Manuals (SRM), and maintenance instructions.
  • Fabricate, form, modify, and install sheet metal components and assemblies.
  • Remove and install rivets, fasteners, panels, and structural aircraft components.
  • Drill, ream, countersink, dimple, deburr, and assemble aircraft structural parts.
  • Install solid and blind rivets, bolts, screws, nutplates, and associated hardware.
  • Inspect aircraft structures for damage, defects, corrosion, fatigue, and wear.
  • Perform corrosion treatment, repair, prevention, and application of approved surface protection coatings, primers, and finishes.
  • Complete maintenance documentation accurately and in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and comply with all workplace safety and Safety Management System (SMS) requirements.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to apprentices and less experienced maintenance personnel.
