THREE NEW OPPORTUNITIES - ONE CRITICAL MISSION.

Help protect the technology that delivers water services to our community.

Toowoomba Regional Council is establishing a new specialist team within Water Infrastructure Services to strengthen the security, reliability and resilience of the operational technology (OT) systems that support the region's water and wastewater services. These newly created roles form a key part of Council's OT Cybersecurity Risk Management Program and will play a vital role in protecting critical infrastructure.

Working together, these positions will support and deliver Council's OT cybersecurity uplift program, improve infrastructure resilience, manage cyber risks, and help ensure essential water services remain secure and available for our community. These roles will work closely with operational teams, ICT specialists, consultants and industry partners to deliver sustainable and secure technology outcomes. Based on role level, responsibilities will range from hands-on technical delivery through to technical leadership and team supervision.

Infrastructure & Security Operations Focus

Ideal for infrastructure professionals looking to build or further develop their experience in operational technology, critical infrastructure and cybersecurity.

In this role you will:

  • Support the operation, maintenance and continuous improvement of Council's OT/IT infrastructure.
  • Assist with the delivery of OT cybersecurity initiatives and uplift projects.
  • Support network, server, storage, virtualisation and security platforms.
  • Assist with vulnerability management, patching, backup and recovery activities.
  • Contribute to infrastructure and security documentation, standards and procedures.
  • Work with specialist consultants and service providers to deliver secure technology outcomes.
  • Assist in managing cyber risks and compliance requirements.

We're looking for:

  • Qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience supporting network and infrastructure environments.
  • Knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, virtualisation and infrastructure technologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and operational stakeholders.
  • Experience in cybersecurity, critical infrastructure or OT environments will be highly regarded.

OT Infrastructure & Cybersecurity Specialist

Perfect for experienced infrastructure professionals seeking to take ownership of complex technical environments and lead the delivery of cybersecurity improvements across critical infrastructure.

In this role you will:

  • Design, implement and continuously improve Council's OT/IT infrastructure.
  • Deliver OT cybersecurity uplift initiatives and resilience programs.
  • Act as a technical expert for complex infrastructure and security matters.
  • Develop security architectures, standards, roadmaps and technical documentation.
  • Provide specialist advice on cyber risk management and compliance requirements.
  • Lead infrastructure and cybersecurity projects.
  • Coordinate consultants, vendors and managed service providers.

We're looking for:

  • Qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Significant experience managing enterprise infrastructure environments.
  • Strong networking, virtualisation, server and security expertise.
  • Experience implementing cybersecurity frameworks and controls.
  • Ability to assess technical risks and drive remediation activities.
  • Experience with OT, industrial control systems, utilities or critical infrastructure environments will be highly regarded.

Team Leadership & Technical Governance Focus

Designed for highly experienced technical leaders who can guide a specialist team while driving strategic infrastructure and cybersecurity outcomes.

In this role you will:

  • Lead and supervise the Water Infrastructure Services Technical Infrastructure team.
  • Provide senior technical leadership across Council's OT/IT infrastructure environment.
  • Lead the delivery of Council's OT cybersecurity uplift program.
  • Manage infrastructure architecture, standards and technical governance.
  • Oversee cyber risk management, compliance and resilience activities.
  • Manage specialist contractors, consultants and technology vendors.
  • Plan and deliver infrastructure and cybersecurity projects.
  • Support operational leaders through strategic technical advice.

We're looking for:

  • Qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Extensive experience in enterprise infrastructure and cybersecurity environments.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience supervising and mentoring technical teams.
  • Advanced networking, security and infrastructure expertise.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Proven experience managing technical risk and service delivery outcomes.
  • Experience within utilities, critical infrastructure or OT environments will be highly regarded.
  • Knowledge of the Australian Signals Directorate Essential Eight framework is desirable.

Mandatory Requirements

To be considered for these opportunities, you must have:

  • Qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity or a related discipline; or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Current C Class Driver's Licence.
  • Demonstrated experience relevant to the position level being applied for.
