Account Executive (Renewals Track)
Job description
We're looking for an early-career Account Executive who wants to grow into a public sector sales role with real support behind them.
Here's how it works: you'll start as our Renewals Coordinator for your first 6 months, looking after existing clients and their software renewals. It's the best way to learn our products, our clients, and how the Government of Canada buys.
At the 6-month mark, you'll move into the Account Executive role, building your own pipeline and closing new business with the full Orangutech team behind you. This is a planned move built into the role, not something you have to compete for.
You don't need to know it all on day one. We're looking for someone who builds good relationships, stays organized, and is hungry to learn.
Phase 1 – Renewals Coordinator (Months 1–6)- Track software renewal dates for our clients and follow up early so nothing slips
- Prepare product quotes and work with clients to finalize renewals on time
- Check in regularly with clients to gather feedback, answer questions, and keep an eye on how they're using their licences
- Flag renewal risks early, like low usage, interest in competitors, or budget concerns
- Spot upsell and cross-sell opportunities and pass them to the Sales team
- Work with our software vendors' Customer Success teams to keep clients happy and adopting their tools, and with our Operations and Delivery teams to get new licences set up
- Learn how federal procurement works, including working with PSPC, SSC, and supply arrangements
- Keep our CRM up to date with renewal status and client notes
Phase 2 – Account Executive (Month 7 onward, guaranteed transition)
- Set up and lead client presentations and demos, bringing in our Solutions Engineers and Delivery team as needed
- Help put together quotes, proposals, and RFP responses with our Proposals and Contracting teams
- Coordinate with vendor-side Customer Success and partner teams on adoption, materials, and account planning
- Build and manage your own pipeline and sales forecast, working toward sales targets
- Strong communication skills, comfortable on the phone, on Teams, and in person
- Very organized, able to juggle multiple deadlines and client priorities
- A self-starter attitude: you take ownership and follow through
- Comfortable with Microsoft 365 and willing to learn a CRM
Nice to have (but not required):
- Experience selling to or working with the Government of Canada
- Familiarity with software licensing, SaaS, or subscription renewals
- Exposure to federal procurement (PSPC, SSC, standing offers, supply arrangements)
