Community Safety Officer
Job description
The Opportunity:
The PPS Branch is seeking a skilled and energetic individual for the position of Community Safety Officer within the Wascana Centre. Community Safety Officers work shift work, including evenings and weekends. They provide a safety and security presence along with enforcement of any statute, law, bylaw or regulation listed in their Special Constable Appointment under The Police Act, 1990.
- Building partnerships within the community, focusing on crime prevention and high priority/low-risk-to-harm intervention and suppression activities
- Unarmed enforcement of provincial laws, statutes and bylaws.
- Enforcing The Traffic Safety Act, The Alcohol and Gaming Regulation Act and other provincial statutes as determined by the Ministry of Community Safety through local consultation.
- Assist the Regina Police Service with calls for service and planned events/demonstrations within Wascana Centre.
- Provide protective services to a number of Wascana Centre facilities, including: the Legislative Building, University of Regina, Saskatchewan Polytechnic, and the Royal Saskatchewan Museum.

Technical Knowledge andSkills
Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position are:
- Experience and/or education in law enforcement, social sciences, correctional services, or similar disciplines;
- Valid certificate in Standard First Aid/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Level C;
- Pass the Sheriff Officer Physical Abilities Test (SOPAT).
- Successfully complete the CSO Induction Training; and
- Successfully complete the Use of Force Training.
You will receive a Special Constable Appointment which includes a requirement to meet the standards for the Saskatchewan Police College in Control Tactics, Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) Spray and Defensive Baton, and maintain this qualification every three (3) years.
