Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a QA Analyst – AR & Web Applications (Manual Testing) based in Canada.

This is an opportunity for a detail-oriented QA professional to help ensure the quality and reliability of innovative augmented reality and web applications.

You will take ownership of hands-on manual testing across an AR Unity application and its supporting web portal.

The role covers test planning, exploratory and regression testing, compatibility validation, defect management, and release readiness.

You will collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and automation QA engineers to identify issues and strengthen overall product quality.

Your testing will span multiple devices, including smartphones, tablets, and advanced AR headsets such as HoloLens and Magic Leap.

The role also encourages the thoughtful use of AI tools to accelerate test creation, improve defect reporting, and expand test coverage.

As a fully remote position, it offers the opportunity to contribute to an innovative technology environment while developing your expertise across AR, web applications, and modern QA practices.

Accountabilities:

  • Design and execute manual test cases covering functionality across AR Unity applications and web-portal features.
  • Conduct exploratory, functional, regression, and compatibility testing across smartphones, tablets, and AR devices.
  • Validate new features, enhancements, and bug fixes before they are released to users.
  • Identify, document, prioritize, and track defects with clear reproduction steps, severity assessments, and relevant risk information.
  • Work closely with developers to investigate, prioritize, and resolve software issues efficiently.
  • Perform root cause analysis where appropriate and provide actionable information to support defect resolution.
  • Create and maintain test plans, test cases, test scripts, and other QA documentation.
  • Document test results and communicate findings clearly to technical and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with product managers, developers, and automation QA engineers to align testing activities with quality objectives.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.
  • Contribute manual-testing insights on edge cases, real-world usage scenarios, and potential product risks.
  • Support release validation and sign-off processes while promoting consistent QA practices and quality standards.
  • Use AI tools such as Claude to draft and refine test cases, generate edge-case and negative-test scenarios, improve test coverage, summarize defects, and support root cause analysis.
  • Explore and recommend AI-enabled QA tools and workflows that can improve testing efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Requirements

    • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
    • At least 3 years of professional experience in manual QA or software testing.
    • Strong understanding of software testing principles, methodologies, and best practices, including functional, regression, exploratory, and compatibility testing.
    • Hands-on experience testing across multiple device types, including iOS and Android smartphones, tablets, and AR headsets such as HoloLens or Magic Leap.
    • Strong ability to identify, investigate, and clearly document bugs, inconsistencies, and unexpected behavior.
    • Experience creating and maintaining test plans, test cases, scripts, and quality standards.
    • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
    • Experience using AI tools to support QA activities, with the judgment to validate AI-generated content and recognize when human review is required.
    • Familiarity with defect tracking and test management tools such as Jira and TestRail.
    • Basic knowledge of version control systems such as Git and GitHub is an asset.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, combined with strong attention to detail.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • QA or software testing certification, such as ISTQB or CSTE, is an asset.
    • Experience testing AR/VR or Unity-based applications is highly desirable.
    • Familiarity with Azure cloud environments is a plus.
    • Basic scripting knowledge is an advantage and may provide opportunities to develop toward test automation.
    • Benefits

      • Competitive salary of CAD $70,000–$80,000 per year.
      • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits.
      • Paid sick and personal days each year.
      • CAD $2,000 technology stipend.
      • Fully remote work environment across Canada.
      • Company-wide holiday closure during the Christmas period.
      • Opportunity to work with augmented reality, Unity, web technologies, and emerging AI-assisted QA practices.
      • Collaborative environment with close interaction across QA, engineering, product, and development teams.
      • Opportunities to expand technical expertise and develop toward automation and other areas of quality engineering.
