Job description

In support of the Government of Canada’s Future Aircrew Training (FAcT) program this position requires individuals with a professional demeanor, positive attitude, and excellent communication skills.

Reporting to the Program Manager FAcT, the FAcT Quality Manager is responsible for the planning, oversight, and execution of the CHL quality program as it applies to the Southport operational base and in coordination with the SkyAlyne FAcT quality program.

Duties include:

  • Implementation and integration of CHL QM program within the framework of the specific contract and in coordination with program stakeholders
  • Developing, implementing, and auditing the policies and procedures to maintain compliance to ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001.
  • The surveillance of all maintenance methods which affect airworthiness to ensure compliance with approved procedures
  • Surveillance and analysis of established procedures for deficiencies or non-conformities
  • Scheduled and impromptu auditing of technical documentation, procedures, facilities, aircraft, and personnel records for conformance to regulatory and company policies and procedures
  • Maintaining a system of aircraft unserviceability and failure analysis to ensure that maintenance standards are being maintained, or improved upon, and initiatinge actions to eliminate repetitive failures and unserviceabilities
  • Development and maintenance of site-specific Procedures manual
  • Other duties as detailed in the CHL FAcT MCP.

Work Environment

Work may initially be conducted remotely but will become on-site in the operational facility in Southport, Manitoba. The majority of work will be conducted in an office environment and includes interaction with program stakeholders, the customer, and vendors and may be in close proximity to aircraft maintenance work areas. Occasional work outdoors may be required to observe and evaluate work processes.

  • Shall hold, or have held a valid Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License for a period of not less than five (5) years; or
  • Shall hold, or have held the Canadian military equivalent (Level A or Level C) to a Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence for a period of not less than five (5) years; or
  • Shall hold or have held the foreign equivalent to a Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence for a period of not less than five (5) years.
  • At least two (3) years previous experience in a Quality Management role
  • Previous experience working under the DND Airworthiness and Flight Safety Programs is an asset
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly organized and attentive to detail
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office software suite, particularly Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Ability to reference, read, and interpret policies, procedures, and regulations

Security Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain Government of Canada Reliability Status security clearance,
  • Must be able to obtain access to controlled goods,
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada or be eligible to obtain a work permit,
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
