IntroductionJim Pattison Volkswagen Surrey is looking for an Automotive Service Technician to join our team. In this role, you will diagnose, maintain, and repair Volkswagen’s growing lineup of vehicles while meeting the highest standards of quality and safety.

Pay Range: $38.00 to $50.00 per hour, based on certification and level of experience.

A Day in the Life

Diagnose, repair, and maintain vehicles according to manufacturer and dealership standards

Complete detailed vehicle inspections with accurate documentation and measurements

Identify mechanical and electrical concerns, recommend appropriate solutions, and clearly communicate findings to the Service team

Safely de-energize, isolate, and re-energize high-voltage systems using approved procedures and personal protective equipment

Work closely with Service Advisors to provide repair timeline updates and recommend additional safety-related work

Perform road tests and pre-delivery inspections on new inventory to ensure every vehicle leaves the shop in excellent condition

Collaborate with the Parts Department to source required components and manage warranty labelling

Support fellow technicians as needed to keep the shop running productively

Keep the work area clean, safe, and organized at all times

Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety standards

Maintain strict confidentiality of company and customer information

Help foster a supportive and engaging work environment

What We’re Looking For

Red Seal Certification as an Automotive Service Technician, or currently in the process of challenging the certification

Previous experience as an automotive technician is required

A valid BC Driver’s licence and a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract are required

Ability to operate both manual and automatic transmission vehicles

Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with excellent attention to detail

Well organized, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively

Ability to stay calm and focused in a fast-paced environment

Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

Reliable, punctual, and dependable

Ability to meet the physical demands of a service technician role, including:

Regularly lifting up to 60 pounds

Standing for extended periods

A high level of mobility, dexterity, endurance, and sensory awareness

Ability to work in an automotive shop environment, including:

An indoor shop with multiple service bays

Exposure to noise (engines, air tools), fumes (exhaust, solvents), and dust

Working around moving vehicles, hoists, and heavy equipment

Varying temperatures (the shop may be cooler in winter and warmer in summer, despite heating and ventilation)
