infoAbout Bloomberg Philanthropies
We are Bloomberg Philanthropies, and our mission is to ensure better, longer lives for the greatest number of people. Our approach is deeply rooted in the unique experience of our founder, Michael R. Bloomberg, as one of the world's most successful entrepreneurs and as the three-term mayor of New York City. This background shapes our distinctive, data-driven approach to philanthropy. We are committed to tackling the world's most pressing challenges and believe in the power of cities and strong leadership to drive solutions. Our work is concentrated on five key areas where we believe we can achieve the greatest good: the Arts, Education, the Environment, Government Innovation, and Public Health. We also undertake special Founder's Projects that address issues emerging from Mike's personal experiences. Encompassing all of Michael R. Bloomberg's charitable giving, we invest in hundreds of cities and countries around the world to create lasting change. The vast majority of profits from Bloomberg L.P., the global financial technology, data, and media company Mike founded in 1981, are dedicated to supporting our work. This allows us to take on big, complex problems and stick with them. We work with a wide range of partners, from local community organizations to national governments, to implement proven solutions and spread effective strategies. Whether we're combating climate change, improving public health outcomes, fostering innovation in city halls, expanding educational opportunities, or making art more accessible to all, our efforts are guided by a belief in the power of data, a willingness to invest boldly, and a commitment to remaining flexible to maximize our impact. Through our work, we strive to create a catalytic effect, empowering others and building a better future for generations to come.
