We are looking for a Data Governance & Stewardship Process Lead to shape and drive the governance framework that enables trusted, high-quality data across Sulzer’s global organization.

In this senior, business-facing role, you will define and operationalize the processes, responsibilities, and collaboration models that empower Data Owners and Data Stewards to manage critical data effectively throughout its lifecycle. You will lead governance forums, guide decision-making, and help the organization address data-related issues in a structured and sustainable way.

The initiative has a global scope across Sulzer’s data and systems, initially focusing on customer data before progressively expanding into other key business domains. This is an opportunity to make a visible impact on data quality, reporting, compliance, and digital transformation while working with senior stakeholders across an international organization.

What you will do:

  • Design and continuously improve Data Owner and Data Steward processes, responsibilities, and collaboration models.
  • Coordinate and facilitate governance councils, domain forums, and working groups across the organization.
  • Define, maintain, and implement governance policies, procedures, RACI frameworks, and operating practices.
  • Lead discussions with Data Owners and senior stakeholders to review results, make decisions, and agree on corrective actions.
  • Manage governance workflows covering data definitions, issues, exceptions, approvals, decisions, and escalations.
  • Drive the resolution of cross-functional data issues in partnership with business and technology teams.
  • Lead onboarding, training, and enablement activities for Data Owners and Data Stewards.
  • Monitor governance decisions, actions, KPIs, and maturity indicators to assess progress and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Develop communication materials, learning content, and adoption plans that strengthen engagement with data governance.
  • Partner with Data Quality, Master Data Management, Enterprise Architecture, Engineering, and business teams to embed governance into delivery processes.
  • Support the expansion of data definition management, lineage visibility, and governed data coverage across key business domains.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify and automate governance workflows.
  • Apply practical governance principles to business data, initially focusing on customer information and progressively covering areas such as products and sales.

What you need to succeed:

Required:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Information Management, Technology, or a related discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience in data governance, data management, business process management, or information management.
  • Proven experience establishing stewardship processes within a complex enterprise environment.
  • Strong knowledge of data governance operating models, stewardship practices, workflow design, and governance frameworks.
  • Experience with policies and standards management, issue management processes, RACI models, and decision-right structures.
  • Experience leading change adoption and stakeholder engagement initiatives.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a pragmatic and process-oriented mindset.
  • Fluent English.
  • Demonstrated success working within a global matrix organization.

Preferred:

  • DAMA/CDMP certification.
  • Process management or change management certification.
  • Experience with data governance, workflow, or stewardship tooling.

What we offer you

  • A permanent contract.
  • A competitive salary as well as participation in the variable remuneration system based on personal and financial objectives.
  • Meal vouchers.
  • Other fringe benefits applicable to the position and location.
  • The opportunity to join an experienced and international team.
  • A positive and collaborative working environment.
  • The opportunity to grow your career within a solid and well-established international company.
  • The chance to contribute to a global organization undergoing continuous transformation and improvement.
  • Excellent office facilities in a convenient location at Nuevos Ministerios, Madrid.
