Junior Developer, Intern, or Thesis Worker — Rust and AI Applications

Advaun Oy develops web applications, AI systems, healthcare and industrial solutions, including our own AI-powered ERP platform for manufacturers.

Were looking for an intern, junior developer or thesis worker to help build our machine vision-based warehouse management solution and our voice AI solution combining speech recognition and large language model (LLM) integration.

Responsibilities

• Develop backend services in Rust using axum.
• Build and integrate REST APIs and MQTT messaging.
• Work with PostgreSQL databases and sqlx.
• Develop user interfaces using egui and contribute across the application stack.
• Help integrate machine vision into our warehouse management solution.
• Support speech recognition and LLM integration for our voice AI solution.
• Write and run tests, investigate bugs and verify your own work.
• Contribute to software architecture and explain your technical decisions.

Requirements

• Practical Rust programming experience from personal, academic or professional projects.
• Understanding of full stack development and how user interfaces, backend services and databases work together.
• Familiarity with REST APIs, MQTT and relational databases.
• Ability to write code independently, test and debug your own work, and think through software architecture and trade-offs.
• Willingness to learn and contribute to practical AI applications.
• A GitHub profile or equivalent coding portfolio with accessible source code from relevant projects you have worked on.

AI tools can support your work, but you must be able to write code without relying on AI-generated output and understand, explain and validate any code you use.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with axum, sqlx or egui.
• Knowledge of machine learning and computer vision, such as image recognition or object detection.
• Experience with speech recognition.
• Experience integrating LLMs with application data, APIs or functions.
• Python programming skills.
• Interest in warehouse management, manufacturing or industrial software.

You do not need experience in every area. We welcome students, recent graduates and early-career developers who can demonstrate relevant skills through their projects.

Thesis Opportunities

We welcome thesis candidates interested in computer vision for warehouse management, speech recognition, LLM integration or the software architecture supporting these systems.

The thesis topic, scope, development responsibilities and time allocation will be agreed separately, with your educational institution involved as appropriate.
