Job description

Hours: Full-time, permanent

Location: Somerset

Reports to: Registered manager

Role Purpose:

As an Assistant Registered Manager, you will be responsible for the operational day-to-day management of the service ensuring compliance with relevant legislation. Working in partnership with colleagues in the senior management team you will ensure the provision of a high-quality service enabling individual needs and organisational priorities to be met in accordance with available resources.

Key

Responsibilities

  • To support the Registered Manager in the operational day-to-day management of the service, ensuring safe, effective and person-centred delivery.

  • To provide calm, consistent and solutions-focused leadership to the Somerset team, promoting accountability, ownership and psychological safety.

  • To lead agreed operational areas of the service, making day-to-day decisions within delegated authority and escalating concerns appropriately.

  • To support the implementation and maintenance of clear systems, processes and routines that improve organisation, communication and service oversight.

  • To work in partnership with the Registered Manager to ensure responsibilities, decision-making and escalation routes are clearly understood across the team.

  • To oversee and support Care Coordinators in managing their caseloads, priorities, actions and professional development.

  • To monitor service risks, staffing pressures, incidents and quality concerns, ensuring timely action and escalation where required.

  • To support office staff through regular supervision, coaching, performance conversations and team meetings.

  • To ensure clinicians and office staff maintain compliance with mandatory training, supervisions and competency requirements.

  • To work closely with recruitment to support safe staffing levels and workforce planning.

  • To attend and contribute to meetings with families, commissioners, social workers, MDT professionals and other stakeholders as required.

  • To maintain a good working knowledge of CQC regulations, safeguarding responsibilities and current social care legislation.

  • To support the completion of audits, governance processes, safeguarding enquiries, investigations and action plans.

  • To ensure high-quality care planning, risk assessments, documentation and record keeping are maintained across the service.

  • To promote a culture where colleagues identify solutions, take ownership and continuously improve practice.
  • To work effectively and collaboratively with internal departments including HR, Recruitment, Compliance, Quality, Therapy, Finance and Operations.

  • To uphold the welfare, dignity and outcomes of the people we support, clinicians and colleagues at all times.

  • To maintain effective knowledge of PASS, care planning, risk assessment and Positive Behaviour Support.

  • To support the onboarding and development of new colleagues, ensuring expectations, standards and company values are clearly understood.

  • To maintain services within agreed quality, financial and operational parameters.

  • To participate in the on-call rota as required and provide management support during out-of-hours issues.

  • To undertake training, development and networking opportunities to maintain professional competence and support the growth of Leaf Somerset.

Experience and knowledge:

  • Hold current qualifications relevant to health and social care within the industry level 5 (desirable).
  • Willing to work towards a level 5 if not already got one.
  • Experience working within a CQC regulated service.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding practices.
  • Have experience effectively managing services with adults and young children with disabilities / behaviours of concern. (Essential)
  • Have experience with working with local authorities, families, supervisions, inductions, and training.
  • Must have experience in undertaking risk assessments, care planning and reviews with a multiple team of relevant professional bodies.
