Job description

The Business Development Manager is a pivotal role for Jodrell Bank Centre for Engagement (JBCE), responsible for driving and maximising earned income across the centre from venue hire, groups, filming and other revenue generating initiatives at a unique, UNESCO world heritage site.

The role is responsible for leading and driving all sales activity, together with the development and delivery of the centre’s business strategy which proactively generates new business and income across corporate meetings, events and private dining, together with weddings, group bookings and filming opportunities.

Commercial activity will be successfully converted, planned and delivered through building strong relationships with corporate clients, agencies, private bookers and key partners, together with colleagues across JBCE.

In this role, you will:

  • Curate a "unique" commercial offer & experience: develop premium packages and offers which reflect Jodrell’s location and unique facilities for corporate and group bookings.
  • Lead an inspired team: Motivate and empower our Events Coordinator and team of Casual Event Assistants to deliver professional client liaison and exceptional customer service when attending site for their booking/event.
  • Commercial focus: Have a keen focus on commercial success, driving revenue and maximising profitability, whilst being mindful of other activity across a busy visitor and educational site.
  • Partner for success: Collaborate with the Head of Marketing & Communications, together with the Catering & Hospitality Manager to help plan marketing and sales initiatives to showcase the facilities and catering across Jodrell Bank for bookings and events.
  • Contribute to our strategic vision: Set and track key performance indicators for commercial business, check costs, analyse budgets, and contribute to the annual business plans for Venue Hire, group bookings and other income streams.
