Credit and AR Manager (Change)

Absolute Recruit is recruiting a Transactional Finance Manager with a strong specialism in Credit Control and Accounts Receivable. This role combines day-to-day team leadership with the opportunity to reshape the credit function, introducing AI, automation and new technology to improve performance.

You’ll review the existing team structure, processes and systems, identify where change is needed and lead its delivery. We’re looking for someone who can bring people with them through change while maintaining a clear focus on cash collection, customer relationships and operational performance

The role

• Lead and develop the Credit Control and Accounts Receivable team, creating clear responsibilities, objectives and accountability.
• Review and restructure the credit function, ensuring workloads, skills and resources align with business needs.
• Improve cash collection, reduce aged debt and resolve recurring issues across billing, queries and payment allocation.
• Introduce meaningful KPIs and reporting across collections, DSO, overdue debt and team performance.
• Identify and implement AI tools and automation to support collections prioritisation, customer communications, reconciliations and reporting.
• Work with Finance, IT and software providers to improve existing systems and support new technology implementation.
• Strengthen credit policies, escalation processes and controls while maintaining positive customer relationships.
• Coach the team through change, embedding new processes and measuring the impact on productivity and cash flow.

About you

• Strong experience managing Credit Control or Accounts Receivable teams, ideally within a broader transactional finance remit.
• A proven track record of restructuring teams and delivering measurable improvements in collections and aged debt.
• Hands-on involvement in finance systems implementation, process automation or technology-led improvement.
• A practical understanding of how AI can improve transactional finance, with the ability to identify useful applications and support adoption.
• A confident people manager who can develop individuals, manage performance and communicate change clearly.
• Comfortable moving between operational detail and longer-term improvement projects.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to challenge existing processes and resolve issues across departments.
