Job description

Electronics Engineer

Hampshire | Fully On-Site | £50,000 to £70,000 DOE

Are you an Electronics Engineer with strong high-speed digital design experience who enjoys getting hands-on with complex hardware?

We are working with a specialist UK engineering business developing advanced electronic systems for demanding real-world applications. Due to continued growth and an increasing project workload, they are looking for an experienced Electronics Engineer to join their product development team.

This is a hands-on role where you will have genuine involvement throughout the development lifecycle, from initial requirements and concepts through to PCB design, hardware bring-up, testing and debugging.

The Role

You will design and develop custom electronics with a particular focus on high-speed digital hardware.

Your responsibilities will include:

• High-speed digital electronics design

• Schematic capture and PCB layout

• Designing for signal integrity, EMC and reliability

• Hardware bring-up, testing and component-level fault finding

• Working with high-speed communications, digital processing and control technologies

• Supporting requirements analysis and concept development

• Working closely with embedded software, FPGA and other engineering disciplines

• Supporting products through development, testing and implementation

What We're Looking For

High-speed digital design experience is the key requirement. You should have personally designed complex electronic hardware and be comfortable discussing the technical decisions behind your designs.

You will ideally have:

• Strong commercial high-speed digital design experience

• Schematic capture and PCB layout experience

• A good understanding of signal integrity and EMC

• Experience with Altium Designer, although other relevant PCB tools will be considered

• Hands-on hardware debugging and component-level fault finding experience

• Strong technical problem-solving skills

• Experience taking PCBs through design, bring-up and testing

• A degree in Electronics or another relevant numerate discipline, or equivalent practical experience

Experience with high-speed communications, video electronics, embedded systems, control systems or digital control would be particularly useful.

Why Apply?

This is an opportunity to join a growing engineering team working on sophisticated electronic products where you can have genuine ownership of your designs.

You'll work alongside engineers across multiple disciplines and have the opportunity to contribute throughout the full product development lifecycle.

The advertised starting point is around £50,000, but there is meaningful flexibility for experienced engineers with the right high-speed digital expertise, with stronger candidates potentially considered into the £60,000 to £70,000 region.

Important Information

This position is fully on-site in Hampshire.

Due to the nature of the projects and associated security requirements, applicants must be British citizens, UK-based and able to satisfy the required security and pre-employment screening.

If you're an Electronics Engineer with genuine high-speed digital design experience and you're looking for technically challenging, hands-on product development work, we'd be keen to hear from you.
