Founded in 1844, Victoria Primary school promotes high standards of achievement for all learners in all aspects of school life. We recognise that children learn best when they feel secure and seen and that they engage most deeply when their senses are awakened.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and nurturing Pupil Support Assistant to work as a member of our school team. In this role you will collaboratively with class teachers and other pupil support assistants to remove all barriers to learning and ensure that the educational and wellbeing needs of all our pupils are met. Applications from candidates with previous experience of providing pupil support and assisting in the delivery of differentiated learning activities are encouraged.

We focus on developing the whole child, including social, emotional, physical, and cognitive skills, all while helping build a love of learning.

Victoria Primary School is part of the Trinity cluster of schools. The roll is approximately 356, spread over 15 classes.

Our staff consists of Head Teacher, Depute Head Teacher and Business Manager, 18 class teachers, an Additional Support for Learning Teacher, a family support teacher, Specialist Teacher of PE and instructors of strings. Our support staff include a School Administrator, Clerical Assistant, 2 Pupil Support Officers and 12 Pupil Support Assistants.

The nursery is an integral part of the whole school establishment which currently caters for ninety 3-5year olds and eight 2 year olds. The team is led by two Senior Early Years Officers who are supported by 3 Early Years Officers, 8 Early Years Practitioners, 4 EYAs and 2 Domestic Assistant.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

We are committed to a diverse and inclusive workforce where everyone feels valued and able to be their best. We particularly encourage applications from women for senior roles, as well as people from minority ethnic backgrounds, people with disabilities or neurodivergent people, care experienced people, carers and LGBT+ people across all levels of the organisation, all of whom are currently underrepresented. All applicants will be considered fairly based on skills and experience. Disabled and care-experienced applicants who meet the minimum job criteria will be guaranteed an interview.
