Senior AI Engineer

Salary: £50,000 - 80,000 per year

Requirements

• Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS (EC2, ECS, S3, Lambda, Fargate, DynamoDB/RDS) or GCP (Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, BigQuery).
• Strong programming skills, with extensive experience in Python and fluency in another language.
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools such as CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible, or Serverless Framework.
• Enjoyment of automating processes.
• Knowledge of containers, including Docker and container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes, ECS, or GKE.
• Genuine interest in AI/ML concepts and technologies, with at least foundational experience and eagerness to grow into a specialised AI Engineering role.
• Proven track record of delivering high-quality work and advancing software engineering best practices.
• Ability to work independently and solve complex problems.
• Keeps up to date with new technology in the AI space.
• Nice to have: Direct experience with advanced AI tools and platforms such as Amazon Bedrock or Google Vertex AI.
• Nice to have: Familiarity with frameworks for building complex, multi-step generative AI applications, such as LangGraph.
• Nice to have: Experience with Agent-to-Agent (A2A) communication or coordination patterns in AI systems.
• Nice to have: Hands-on experience using AI-powered development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Kiro, or Cursor to enhance productivity and code generation.
• Nice to have: Knowledge of or experience with MCP to integrate LLMs with external data sources and tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy high-quality, scalable software solutions focused on AI-enabled applications and infrastructure.
• Lead and participate in technical projects and AI system deployments.
• Guide and mentor team members on AI engineering best practices.
• Apply practices such as MLOps and AIOps to improve AI-related products, services, and processes.
• Optimise existing model serving and data pipelines to meet changing performance and security requirements.
• Hold requirements-gathering sessions with business stakeholders and data science teams.
• Lead functional projects or work streams focused on AI infrastructure and tooling.
• Deliver a roadmap of improvements across the full lifecycle of AI applications, from initial prototyping to production-grade deployments.
