Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Salary: £50,000 - 55,000 per year

Requirements

• Ideally 6–8+ years experience in IT infrastructure
• Strong hands-on knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy and Hyper-V
• Experience with Microsoft 365 Hybrid environments, Intune, Azure/Entra ID, networking, firewalls, backup and recovery, patch management and vulnerability remediation
• Ability to administer and automate environments using PowerShell
• Experience supporting or migrating SQL Server, IIS and Remote Desktop Services is particularly valuable
• Strong troubleshooting, communication and explanation skills, with a proactive approach
• Experience with Cyber Essentials Plus, Mimecast or Sophos XGS, and relevant Microsoft, Azure, networking or security certifications, would be advantageous

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain our Windows Server, Active Directory and Group Policy environments, along with Hyper-V, Microsoft 365 Hybrid, Azure/Entra ID and Intune
• Take an active role in server migrations, infrastructure upgrades and refresh projects
• Support SQL Server, IIS and Remote Desktop Services environments
• Help manage patching, vulnerability remediation, endpoint protection, firewall and VPN technologies, backup and disaster recovery solutions, and contribute to our ongoing Cyber Essentials Plus compliance
• Support our network infrastructure, including switching, VLANs, WAN connectivity and Sophos XGS firewalls
• Use PowerShell and management tools to automate processes and improve efficiency
• Produce clear technical documentation and network diagrams, support infrastructure planning and act as a senior escalation point for the IT Service Desk

Were looking for a Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer to join our IT team and play a key role in supporting, maintaining and developing our internal technology infrastructure. Reporting to our Head of IT, youll work alongside our Infrastructure and M365 Engineers, taking ownership of infrastructure platforms, cybersecurity, automation and technical projects. Youll initially work closely with end users and the IT Service Desk to build a strong understanding of our environment; the role is primarily infrastructure-focused.
