Senior Project Manager

Job Summary (List Format):

• Lead and coordinate the migration of BlackRock Aladdin applications from Sybase to SQL Server, overseeing end-to-end program and project management.
• Manage project scope, timelines, milestones, risks, issues, dependencies, and communications with stakeholders.
• Drive execution across multiple teams, including application development, infrastructure, database, and support functions.
• Facilitate governance meetings, steering committees, status reviews, and migration readiness checkpoints.
• Proactively escalate and resolve blockers to maintain project momentum.
• Administer inventory and assessment of a large-scale application portfolio (10,000+ apps) to determine migration readiness.
• Oversee analysis of application dependencies, ownership, technical readiness, and coordinate validation with technical/application owners.
• Ensure accurate mapping and prioritization of applications in diverse technologies (Perl, Java, Python, C++, etc.).
• Utilize discovery and monitoring tools (e.g., linting, Grafana) to identify application database connections.
• Lead migration-wave planning, release scheduling, and cutover-readiness, partnering with engineering and platform teams to optimize sequencing and minimize risk.
• Coordinate migration weekend activities, readiness reviews, go/no-go decisions, and post-migration follow-up.
• Track and report on migration progress across multiple waves to ensure successful execution.
• Curate and format validated application inventories for Microsoft Azure DevOps; assign applications with clear ownership, priorities, and milestones.
• Develop and maintain executive dashboards and status reports using Power BI and other tools.
• Track completion percentages, deadlines, application readiness, migration status, risks, and dependencies.
• Prepare concise presentations and updates for senior leadership and stakeholders.
• Serve as primary liaison among BlackRock stakeholders, technical teams, and program leadership, ensuring accountability and adherence to plans and timelines.
• Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and informed decision-making on scope, sequencing, priorities, and risk mitigation.
• Required: 8+ years project management experience in enterprise tech programs, experience with BlackRock/Aladdin, large-scale migrations, SDLC/Agile, Azure DevOps, Power BI, risk/issue/stakeholder management, and strong communication skills.
• Preferred: Experience with Aladdin, Sybase/SQL Server/database migrations, application discovery/mapping tools, knowledge of Java/Python/Perl/C++/enterprise architectures, relevant certifications (PMP, Scrum Master, etc.), and financial services/investment management domain experience.
