The Role

We are looking for an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead a key workload migration project, moving a test workload from a mainframe environment to AWS.

This is a hands-on technical delivery role requiring someone who can confidently lead conversations across mainframe, Rocket Software and cloud engineering teams. You will need sufficient knowledge and experience of Rocket Software and mainframe environments to understand the technology, challenge technical decisions, manage dependencies and effectively lead the migration.

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of workload migration from the mainframe to AWS.
  • Own project planning, milestones, dependencies, risks and delivery governance.
  • Coordinate engineering, infrastructure, cloud and stakeholder teams throughout the migration.
  • Use your knowledge of Rocket Software and mainframe technologies to understand technical requirements and facilitate effective technical discussions.
  • Translate between technical teams and business/project stakeholders, ensuring risks and dependencies are clearly understood.
  • Work with engineering teams to define the migration approach, sequencing and acceptance criteria.
  • Oversee migration testing, validation and readiness activities.
  • Identify and proactively resolve technical and delivery blockers.
  • Ensure the migrated workload meets agreed functional, performance and operational requirements.
  • Provide clear reporting on project progress, risks and outcomes.

Essential Experience

  • Strong experience as a Technical Project Manager, Technical Delivery Manager or Migration Lead.
  • Previous experience delivering technically complex migration or modernisation projects.
  • Knowledge of Rocket Software technologies and their use within mainframe environments.
  • A good understanding of mainframe architecture and workloads.
  • Experience working with AWS and cloud migration programmes.
  • The technical credibility to work closely with engineers, architects and infrastructure specialists.
  • Strong understanding of testing, migration planning, dependencies and technical risk management.
  • Experience coordinating multiple technical teams against tight delivery timescales.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
